![]() While there isn't one best champion overall in League of Legends, in Kayn vs Zed matchups, Kayn is the better champion with a similar win rate, more champion depth, and a similar amount of utility to help out your allied champions during late stage team fights. ![]() This makes her just as valuable during teamfights, especially when fighting champions with a lot of burst damage. ![]() You still need to be cautious when picking Kayn into Zedas his relative depth means you may not be able to unleash his full potential without a significant amount of practice beforehand.įurthermore, Kayn also has almost no amount of CC and other utility, a similar amount to Zed. While Kayn does have a higher win rate than Zed, when they face off with one another, Kayn also has a greater level of difficulty that makes him a more difficult character to learn and master. As a result, Kayn makes an ok counter for Zed. In the game's current meta, Kayn usually fairs equally well when taking on Zed, with a 50.4% win rate. Remember kids, bare chests look cool right up until the shurikens start flying. Both League champs are great. It also doesn’t hurt that Zed is wearing armor and Kayn isn’t. ![]() Kayn is powerful, sure, but he hasn’t outpaced his master yet - and his arrogance means that he won’t realize the depth of his folly until it’s too late. This means he knows how to counter anything that Kayn could throw at him. Meanwhile, Zed knows of Kayn’s shadow techniques - after all, he taught him everything he knows. Kayn’s possession of the scythe does a lot to level the playing field, as it offers him superior reach, but Kayn’s inability to master it completely means that he can’t bring its full potential to bear. It’s unlikely that the Master of Shadows doesn’t know of his acolyte’s intentions, and even less likely that he hasn’t planned for such a fight. If the two came to blows, there’s no question in my mind that Zed would triumph. Rhaast is not fully under his control, meaning that he can’t access the scythe’s true potential, and his arrogance means he has a tendency to make reckless decisions with little thought to the consequences. Kayn’s mastery isn’t quite complete, however. Add to that his possession of the Darkin scythe Rhaast and Kayn can stand against almost anyone. He also proved to be adept with shadow techniques, so much so that he has no need for armor - his foes never knew he was coming until it was too late. In an organization where acolytes are expected to learn one weapon only, Kayn mastered them all, proving his skill in combat. There are few of the Order of the Shadow who can directly challenge their master, and Shieda Kayn is one of them. On top of that, Zed’s mastery of shadows only goes so far - if he throws out too many shadow clones in a short period of time, he may overtax himself and leave an opening. His arm blades are fairly short, which reduces his reach in a fight, and he’s only armed with two of his signature razor shurikens. However, Zed has also proven to be adept at fighting multiple opponents, provided he gets the drop on them.Īll of this doesn’t mean that Zed is unstoppable. This means Zed is a nigh-unstoppable assassin who excels at taking down targets one-on-one. He trained with the Kinkou Order from a young age, and has augmented their ninja techniques with his own shadow abilities. Zed is one of the most formidable foes one could hope to face. This fits in with the current canon and makes it significantly easier to judge the victor. This is a bit of a tricky matchup, given that Kayn has three separate forms, so I’ve gone ahead and made the assumption that neither Kayn nor Rhaast have won control yet. The only question left, then, is which shadow will be left when the sun rises. Together, the two could dominate much of Ionia - however, Kayn’s ambition means that they’ll eventually come to blows. The Order of the Shadow hasn’t been around for long, but has already produced two of the deadliest ninja the world has ever seen: Zed and his disciple Kayn. Let me know if you prefer this new format, or if you’d like a return to the old one!) (Based on community feedback, I’ve changed up how Who Would Win is written.
